In Harry Potter and the Deathly hallows, does snape really love harry?

In chapter 33 page 687 last paragraph or so dumbledore asks if snape cares for harry and hae said for him and sends out a patronus then dumbledore turn to him and one of them is crying and dumbledore asks,%26quot;after all this time?%26quot; and snapes reply was %26quot;always%26quot; was he talking about caring about harry after all this time? or Still loving lily after so many years and he was saying he allways will? PLEASE help

In Harry Potter and the Deathly hallows, does snape really love harry?
Snape always loved Lilly. He didn%26#039;t love Harry as much as he did Lilly. But I think Snape cared for him and wanted to protect Harry for Lilly%26#039;s sake.

After her death, Snape promised Dumbledore that he would help protect her son. Snape looked in this boys eyes and saw the man he hated (James) and the woman he loved (Lilly) so it would have been very hard for him to love him truely. He had to protect him and care for him all for Lilly and to stop Voldemort killing her son.

Hope this helps you out.
Reply:he does notlove harry but he loves liy and since lily is a part of harry he haS To protect harry
Reply:He loves Lily and feels responsible for her death. For that reason, he%26#039;s trying to protect Harry since he%26#039;s part of Lily
Reply:well, yes.in a convoluted manner.he loves lily VERY much.even after she had a child with James and was killed by Voldemort. He felt that he was the one who shouldve had Harry with Lily, not James. I think he loved lily so much that somewhere down the line, he felt that Harry could possibly be a semblance of a son to him...he loved Harry BECAUSE Harry was the son of the person he loved and has loved all this long-Lily evans..thts what I reckon.!
Reply:it means that snape still loves lily, snape didn%26#039;t like snape because it was the child of james and lily and harry looks exactly like james
Reply:No he still loves Lily. He does it all for his love of her. The patronus is the same as Lily%26#039;s (a doe). I think he%26#039;s torn about Harry b/c while he looks like James he has Lily%26#039;s eyes. That was the saddest part to me after reading his memories, thinking back to when he was dieing and said %26quot;Look at me%26quot;. He wanted to see Lily%26#039;s eyes, sniff.
Reply:My belief is that Snape doesn%26#039;t LOVE Harry, but he doesn%26#039;t absolututely hate him either. Harry had always reminded Snape of James and the way that he was treated by him and his friends. Everytime Snape looked at Harry he was reminded of Lily and the way he had hated James. The only reason that Snape protects Harry is because of the sense that it was what Lily would want. He regrets that Voldemort didn%26#039;t listen to his request of not killing Lily and feels a sense of duty to protect Harry. Just because he protects him doesn%26#039;t mean he loved him though. In a way, Harry was Snape%26#039;s regret for saying the things he had and pushing Lily away.
Reply:OF COURSE NOT. The only person Severus Snape ever really cared for was Lily Evans. Harry was simply the beneficiary of the good deeds he made in memory of Lily. Everything good in Snape is because of Lily, not Harry.
Reply:he%26#039;s just talking about lily - because Dumbledore saw that the patronus was still a doe (Lily%26#039;s patronus). I don%26#039;t think it can be said that he loves Harry - he wants to protect him for the sake of Lily and the sake of Lily%26#039;s sacrifice. It%26#039;s all he has left of her. The conversations you see between Dumbledore and Snape in %26#039;Prince%26#039;s Tale%26#039; i think show you that he only sees James in Harry, and hates him for it.
Reply:He loves Harry and always has since he is a part of Lily. Even when he%26#039;s been mean to Harry, he%26#039;s done it with love ... and, of course, frustration. Which is like many parents and others who love unconditionally.
Reply:still loving lilly thats all. he never loved or even liked harry period, because he was the offspring of the woman he love and the man he hated for taking her away from him. but he felt a sort of sense of duty to harry because snape loved harry%26#039;s mom..thats all.
Reply:Well, in that particular occasion I believe he was referring to his love for Lily (because his patronus was a doe, as was Lily%26#039;s).

But I think he does love Harry, although he might not know it.
Reply:Snape was in love with Lily and still did love her, even after all that time had passed. He showed this by having a Patronus in the same form as Lily%26#039;s. His relationship with Harry was a bit more complex since as much as he loved Lily he hated James. The fact that Harry looked so much like his father made it easy for Snape to dislike Harry (although I do not think he ever hated him). He did, however grow to care for Harry because he was also Lily%26#039;s son. I believe that he hid his feelings about Harry behind a facade of dislike. Snape was not a %26quot;role model%26quot; individual, he was very complicated and could therefore dislike Harry but at the same time care about what happened to him. For Snape though, preserving Harry was a way of keeping a part of Lily alive, especially when he looked into Harry%26#039;s eyes for, to him, he was seeing Lily. In finally caring for Harry, he was able to let show some of his love for Lily.
Reply:Yes, but in a painful, complicated way.
Reply:no. he remains only infatuated w. lily. he%26#039;s doing it all for harry cuz he loves lily only. he hates james like mad. he alwiz felt tht james robbed lily fr him/.
Reply:Yes ofcourse he does..... He just resents im because he believes harry should have been his! He died for Harry..
Reply:SNAPE LOVES HARRY!!!!!! AWWW SO PRECIOUS!!!
